Search Engine optimization is a crucial
procedure. One of the best ways to be a success on the Internet
is to rank well on the search engines and attract more and more
visitor traffic. And a lot is talked about optimization ways
for search engines. However, most of the SEO advice deals with
the very basics of the concept and no one is ready to reveal
the real secrets.
Here are six superb SEO tweaks that you can
gain immensely from...
1. Use Anchor Text
Anchor text is the best form to wrap external
links and certainly the most effective. In fact, external links
are extremely important and the anchor text is what links back
to your websites and their various pages. Use your keywords in
anchor text so that you get more search engine advantage.
2. Link Text vs. Website
PageRank
One of the important aspects webmasters
consider is the PageRank of the website they are getting links
from and it is popularly believed that the better the PageRank,
more will be the linking advantage. However, instead of
concentrating on link backs from high PageRank sources, you
should focus on getting the link text right in order to improve
your overall ranking in search results.
We all know that it is more difficult to get
links from high PageRank websites than from lower PageRank
sources. However, if you get a couple of lower PageRank
websites to link back to you with the key words and phrases you
are targeting, then that will be more beneficial than a link
from high PageRank website.
3. Use Widgets
Widgets help you to get link back from a
variety of websites, from the home pages as well as a number of
pages within the websites. The best thing about using widgets
is that even if you link from low PageRank websites, you can
still control the link text.
4. Select the Right Keywords and
Phrases
This is where many website owners go wrong. The
first and most important step for search engine optimization is
selecting relevant keywords and phrases for the website. This
should not be guesswork. Instead use tools like Google Adwords
Keywords Tool etc. to find out terms that have high conversion
rates and optimize for them. Also, remember to keep a check on
the search volumes for the terms.
5. No Follow Links
No Follow is a special link attribute that
informs search engine crawlers that the link is not trusted.
Often website owners do a lot of link building activities
without checking the nofollow or dofollow status of the source.
To check a link, simply view the source of the web page in your
browser and look for "rel=nofollow" in it.
It's no use wasting time on getting links from
nofollow websites. Therefore, instead of submitting comments
and posts on popular blogs (that are generally nofollow),
search for some lesser known dofollow blogs and start your
work.
6. Create a Flat Website
Hierarchy
The PageRank of a website flows logarithmically
from the home page to its internal pages. Having a flat website
hierarchy helps you with optimizing pages that you want to be
ranked highly to link directly with the home page.
